Canadian Jazz Festival

JazzYYC is proud to announce our November 2014 Canadian Jazz Festival Nov 6 – 9.

Quick Line Up:

  • Kicking off the concert lineup is Brenda Earle Stokes Trio on Nov 6. With her new album, Right About Now, she’s found a balance between her two instruments and a very personal place from which to tell stories.
  • The November schedule also includes the Riverside Quartet on Nov 7, the group blends a love for improvised music, bluegrass, sacred hymns and Appalachian music to create an aesthetic rooted in Americana and jazz.
  • Petr Cancura & Down Home perform on the Main Stage performances on Nov 8. A saxophonist with a vast knowledge of Jazz, Balkan, African and American folk traditions, Petr performs on banjo and mandolin. Emie R. Roussel Trio rounds up the Main Stage performances on Nov 9 with their innovative jazz compositions performed with passion, creativity and sensitivity.
  • Performances by Michelle Grégoire and Audrey Ochoa are being held at Lolita’s Lounge and partner shows include Allison Au Quartet at National Music Centre Nov 7 and Prime Time Big Band at the Ironwood Stage and Grille on Nov 8.
  • The Festival’s Inglewood JazzWalk on Nov 9 offers an afternoon of free entertainment by Foothills Brass (Children’s show), Johnny Summers Quartet and Jim Head Trio at Festival Hall, and Sillan & Young at DaDe Art and Design Lab, and Limacher & Lewis at Kent of Inglewood. There are also workshops and talks throughout the Festival.
