Follow 9th avenue east, past the tall buildings of downtown and you will eventually hit a bridge that will lead you straight into the heart of Calgary’s history: Inglewood. The multifarious community of Inglewood was Calgary’s original downtown and is the city’s oldest neighbourhood. Eclectic shops, some of Calgary’s tastiest eateries and various music venues, make this close-nit community beautifully unique.
Inglewood is full of independent, creative businesses including design shops, organic clothing stores, cafes and art galleries. If you’re in the market for interesting and unique items, you’re sure to find them here. This community is buzzing with creativity. It’s no wonder Inglewood is also the host of Calgary’s Sun Fest and Fringe Fest. Combined with the unique variety of homes, this is place to be!
Nature: Inglewood lies east of the Elbow river and is situated right across from Fort Calgary and the Zoo. If you are an animal or nature lover this just might be the happiest place in Calgary for you. If you’re looking to stroll alongside beautiful trees and water, Pearce Estate Park is in your backyard. Have a soft spot for animals? The zoo, bird sanctuary and fish hatchery are all close by.
Recreation: There is so much to do in this community so it makes sense that Inglewood’s recreation list is a decent one. The Inglewood aquatic centre, Core Yoga & Pilates, Ombiance Yoga, Crossfit and of course Calgary’s extensive bow river pathway are all at your disposal.
Inglewood is at the heart of our city’s Arts and Culture scene, earning it the distinction of being Calgary’s Indie community.
