Investigation underway after officer shot in Bedford Park CHICAGO -- An investigation is underway after a police officer was shot in Bedford Park Sunday morning, Bedford Fire said. According to the fire department, a police officer was shot multiple times near the 6800 block of South Archer Avenue around 4:13 a.m. The officer was transported to Loyola University Medical Center. His condition is unknown. Northwest Side liquor store employee shot during string of armed robberies A maroon SUV near a gas station pump with several items scattered on the ground are appeared on the scene near 68th Street and Archer Avenue.It is unknown if there is anyone in custody.WGN is actively following this incident and will update as more information is recovered.

APD provides details on east Austin homicide AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department said it began investigating an east Austin homicide late Saturday. Police said the homicide occurred near the 2500 block of Sol Wilson Avenue.At approximately 10 p.m., police responded to the area after multiple callers reported hearing gunshots.APD said two men were found with "obvious trauma to their bodies."Police said one of the men died at the scene while the other was taken to the hospital. APD reported the man taken to the hospital was in stable condition. According to APD, a disturbance led to three people being injured, one of which was the man who died. MAP: Where have Austin’s homicides occurred in 2023? As of Saturday evening, APD said no one was in custody related to the incident.Police said this incident was being investigated at Austin's 64th homicide of 2023.

The exception is our far northern counties, where some snowflakes could be mixed in. Roads in northern Kansas (north of our viewing area) have become covered or partially covered, resulting in slick travel conditions this morning. The bulk of the precipitation will come to an end from west to east this morning, with some lingering sprinkles into the early afternoon. Devon Brown knew not to ignore it when she found a lump in her breast that just didn’t seem quite right.“It felt very round and hard, so that was pretty abnormal,” she said.A biopsy confirmed she was right to worry: the lump was cancerous. And so Brown, a 22-year-old Loveland resident, joined the unenviable, growing group of young people fighting cancers that generally had been considered diseases of later life.Nationwide, the rate of cancers before age 50 increased about 4.4% in women from 2010 to 2019, but decreased about 4.9% in men. Breast cancer accounted for the largest share of early diagnoses, though rates increased faster for cancers of the digestive system. Most of the increase came from people in their 30s, with rates holding steady for other groups.It’s not just an American phenomenon, either: cancer diagnoses worldwide in people between 14 and 49 increased 79% between 1990 and 2019, according to a study in the British Medical Journal of Oncology....
