Thursday is a special day for many Angelenos and NBA fans across the world.Aug. 24 is Kobe Bryant Day, honoring the Laker great who died in a 2020 helicopter crash alongside his daughter, Gianna, and seven others.The date, celebrated in Orange County and Los Angeles, pays tribute to Bryant's two jersey numbers, 8 and 24. Lizzo to sue backup dancers for 'malicious prosecution'

Lizzo is firing back at the allegations against her by a trio of dancers. According to TMZ, her lawyer, Marty Singer, revealed she's planning to countersue for malicious prosecution claiming the dancers are being hypocritical. It's all because of a photo, which according to her attorney, shows her backup dancers happily cavorting after attending the Crazy Horse cabaret show in Paris, France. We know that vegetables are often the healthiest food on the plate – when they do make it onto the plate.Loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber, veggies are known for their health-promoting and disease-prevention properties. New research has ranked vegetables and fruit by their nutrient density or the amount of nutrients obtained per serving. While this information can help us optimize our nutrition, the findings of the study are a bit surprising.The study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention awarded only one vegetable with a perfect 100% score and it wasn’t cauliflower, broccoli or even kale. Antioch moves forward with new tenant protections

In yet another move to strengthen tenant protections, the Antioch City Council this week approved a new set of rules to ensure against landlord retaliation and harassment.The action came after more than a year of tenants and supporters advocating for help and after the council considered a draft review and later approved a first reading of revised ordinance in July. Mystery investor buys nearly 60 acres in South Bay hills from Arrillaga trust

PALO ALTO — A mystery investor has paid about $20 million for big chunks of hilly land in the Palo Alto area that had been owned by the late John Arrillaga, a Silicon Valley real estate legend.The buyer operated through an affiliate called Fierce Sunrise LLC to purchase the property, according to documents filed on Aug. 23 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.Fierce Sunrise paid about $20.7 million for eight parcels, which are along a private road called Tierra Arboles in Palo Alto, the county real estate records show.For numerous years, the property had been owned by Arrillaga, a long-time real estate executive who during his career became one of the Bay Area’s most successful and savvy developers with a client list of tenants that read like a who’s who of Silicon Valley corporate royalty.
