(NEXSTAR) – The 19-year-old passenger aboard Titan’s ill-fated dive to the wreckage of the Titanic was “terrified” to go on the trip, but went anyway so as not to disappoint his Titanic-obsessed dad, his aunt told NBC News.Suleman Dawood and his father, Shahzada Dawood, 48, embarked on the June 18 expedition with fellow passengers Hamish Harding, Paul-Henri Nargeolet and OceanGate founder Stockton Rush. Their submersible lost contact with its support vessel approximately an hour and 45 minutes into the dive. (KTLA) -- The median age of Americans reached a record high of 38.9 years between 2021 and 2022, according to new data released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday.During that timeframe, the median age in the nation has increased by 0.2 years. The rapid rise is noteworthy since the median age in 2000 was 35 and in 1980 it was 30.“As the nation’s median age creeps closer to 40, you can really see how the aging of baby boomers, and now their children — sometimes called echo boomers — is impacting the median age,” Kristie Wilder, a demographer in the Census Bureau’s Population Division, said in a statement. America aged rapidly in the last decade as baby boomers grew older and births dropped Researchers found that about 17 states had median ages above 40 in 2022. Maine led the group with the highest median age with 44.8 and New Hemisphere followed with 43.3.On the contrary, Utah, the District of Columbia and Texas had the lowest median ages in the nation.
