He was charged Oct. 5 with the felony sexual battery count, which includes enhancements that the victim was vulnerable and that the suspect was in a position of trust when it happened. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday and is no longer in custody, according to court records.Police were notified last September by the victim who reported that after she had X-rays taken, the technician touched her inappropriately under the guise of a physical examination. The San Leandro Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, working with hospital officials doing their own internal investigation, were able to develop enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for Tu.Related ArticlesCrime and Public Safety | ...House Republicans struggle to agree on a speaker

The surprise attack by Hamas militants against Israel last Saturday now looks set to trigger a war potentially more destructive than any that the region has seen in years. Reeling from a series of armed assaults by the militant group that are believed to have killed around 1,300 Israelis, including many civilians, Israel’s newly formed unity government said that it is preparing for a decisive battle in the Gaza Strip.Israeli leaders have now vowed to “wipe out this thing called Hamas” and end its existence as a military and political entity in Gaza. The Israeli government has issued warnings of an imminent ground invasion, telling 1.1 million Gazans to evacuate the northern part of the territory which includes Gaza City.“Israel does not have an endgame in Gaza.”The fate of Hamas may well be sealed, but that outcome will place Israel in a very dire situation as well, one that it has long sought to avoid. By forcing it to fight a grueling battle and then maintain a presence in the Gaz...Washington Hawk’s Call to Bomb Iran Cites Disastrous 9/11 Playbook

Earlier this week, Mark Wallace, the head of the influential Washington, D.C., think tank United Against Nuclear Iran, called for a “military response” against Iran for Hamas’s attack on Israel.Appearing on the London-based satellite network Iran International, Wallace explained, “In the wake of 9/11, we said that we would find every Al Qaeda terrorist wherever they were, hunt them down, and kill them or bring them to justice, and that we would bring a response to their state sponsors, at that point the Taliban in Afghanistan. Right now, that is Iran.”Wallace loosely quoted Secretary of State Antony Blinken as saying, “There is no doubt that Iran is the primary funder and supporter and patron of Hamas.” Therefore, Wallace continued, “Whether or not Iran pressed the button to go into Israel is irrelevant. It all lies at the hands of Iran. So the debate of whether Iran was involved in the specific planning of individualized events is irrelevant.”Wallace wrapped up by saying, “Let...FBI Targets Muslims and Palestinians in Wake of Hamas Attack, Civil Rights Advocates Warn

Federal law enforcement agents have questioned and detained Palestinian nationals and made visits to mosques in the wake of Hamas’s attack on Israel, according to civil rights advocates.Abed Ayoub, executive director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, or ADC, said that his organization has fielded multiple reports of individuals and mosques being visited by the Federal Bureau of Investigation this week. The Stop LAPD Spying Coalition, a police accountability group, also said it had received reports of federal agents intimidating Palestinians and their supporters. The interactions are reminiscent of surveillance and targeting of Muslim and Arab communities in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, and Ayoub told The Intercept that they are contributing to a resurgence of fear among Muslim communities. “Like, ‘Oh my god, this is happening again, how are we going to protect ourselves?’”The reports come after President Joe Biden issued a warning this week about potential “d...Teen suspect in Morgan State homecoming mass shooting arrested in DC
