The 2023 Chicago Bears schedule is set.Season opener against the rival Green Bay Packers. Season finale? Against the Packers. Thursday night, the 2023 NFL schedule was released for all 32 teams.Early that morning, the Jets found out the Aaron Rodgers era with the Jets would begin under the lights in primetime.Rodgers and the Jets will host the Bills on Monday Night Football, Sept. 11, at MetLife Stadium. The two teams split their meetings last year as the Jets shocked the Bills at home, 20-17, last November. Buffalo exacted revenge at home last December 20-12.Gang Green last opened a season at home under the lights on Sept. 11, 2011, as it defeated the Cowboys 27-24.The Jets’ start on road won’t be any easier on Sept. 17 in Week 2 as they will travel to AT&T Stadium to play the Cowboys. NATIONAL CITY, Calif. -- A short pursuit ended in a crash that left one person dead Friday, said the National City Police Department. Authorities say they were pursuing a driver for a speeding violation around midnight when the individual fled in a car described as a Toyota on the 2000 block of National City Boulevard.The driver, who was described as a man in his 20s or 30s, lost control of his vehicle and was ejected after a short chase, NCPD said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.NCPD says all of National City Boulevard is shut down from 30th Street to 26th Street for an investigation. Authorities have advised motorist to avoid the area and say they expect the roadway to reopen sometime after 6 a.m. No other injuries were reported in connection to this incident. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Four people were shot, one fatally, outside an Indianapolis fast-food restaurant where the three surviving victims sought help after the late-night shooting, police said Friday.The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said four males were shot shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of a Steak ’n Shake restaurant on the city’s south side. One male was pronounced dead at the scene in the parking lot, while officers found the three other shooting victims conscious inside the restaurant, where they had run seeking help. MADRID (AP) — Spain’s Supreme Court on Friday upheld the 135-year prison sentence of a British teacher and nanny who created and distributed pornography of children in his care after changing his name and country following previous convictions.Ben David Rose legally changed his identity after his conviction on child pornography charges in Britain, meaning that he didn’t appear as a registered sex offender during background checks in Spain. Rose, previously known as Ben David Lewis, received a two-year suspended sentence in June 2016 for the child pornography offenses in the English city of St. Albans. By August of the same year, with a new name and passport, he was working as a nanny in the Spanish city of Zaragoza.
