Charlie Blackmon signs one-year contract extension with Rockies Rockies icon Charlie Blackmon will return for one more season with the team.The club announced Friday night that Blackmon, 37, had agreed to a one-year contract extension covering the 2024 season. Denver’s run game, supposedly the foundation of the offense, has flashed through three weeks.Running back Samaje Perine had 78 total yards in the season opener. Last week against the Dolphins, Javonte Williams turned a short pass from Russell Wilson into a 17-yard gain and later powered up the middle for a 16-yard run.But flashes are temporary. Los Angeles County man fatally stabbed in Kern County prison; fellow inmates suspected A man convicted of murder in Los Angeles County was fatally stabbed in North Kern State Prison by two fellow inmates, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.Josafat Bonifacio, 32, was attacked just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, allegedly by 30-year-old Andrew Jimenez and 28-year-old Anthony Rivera, the CDCR said in a news release. The two men are believed to have been armed with "an inmate-manufactured weapon," and Bonifacio "sustained multiple stab wounds," the release said.He died about an hour after the stabbing while he was on the way to the hospital.Bonifacio arrived at the prison on May 30 after he was sentenced to serve life with the possibility of parole for second-degree murder. Sunnyvale: Three arrested in connection with Sept. 12 shooting SUNNYVALE — Authorities on Thursday arrested three people in connection with a shooting that wounded a man more than two weeks ago in Sunnyvale.The shooting, along with a car crash, happened around 10:40 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Arbutus and Hawthorn avenues. Man dies after possible fight on Antioch trail, investigated as homicide: police (KRON) -- A man died after a "possible" physical fight on the DeAnza trail Friday morning, the Antioch Police Department said in a press release. The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on the trail near 4100 Null Drive. APD officers arrived at the scene and saw one of the individuals involved was unconscious, police said. APD and fire crews responded to the scene to perform life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene. The victim was a Black man around 30 to 40 years old. The circumstances of what led to the unidentified victim's death were not revealed by APD. Police are investigating this incident as a homicide, and no suspect information is available at this time.
