University of Denver head coach David Carle on Tuesday was named head coach of the 2024 U.S. national junior team.Carle, 33, recently completed his fifth season with the DU Pioneers, leading them to a 30-10 record and an NCAA Tournament berth. Coloradans wrestle with the public water versus private land conundrum regularly. Stream access laws aim to protect property owners from — among other things — outdoor enthusiasts trespassing on private land to fish in the public water. It leaves swaths of river nearly untouched, but a new company is working to connect private landowners with anglers in a mutually beneficial relationship.RareWaters fashions themselves as the “Airbnb of fly fishing.” The company, launched in 2020, connects landowners with river access to fly fishers eager to find a stretch of river less crowded than somewhere publicly accessible.“Public watersheds (are) getting a little overcrowded, overpressured and overrun, which isn’t good for the fish, it’s not good for the habitat, and not good for the water,” said Denver-based RareWaters founder Brenden Stucky. “And it’s not good for the angling experience. CIMARRON HILLS, Colo. — Authorities say the Sunday wildfire in Cimarron Hills broke out under suspicious circumstances.On Sunday, the Cimarron Hills Fire Protection District responded to a fast-moving wildfire, along with 13 other agencies.They were able to hold the fire at 5.4 acres despite strong winds, low humidity and extremely dry fuel conditions. A San Fernando Valley resident has been convicted of charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the United States Capitol.Edward Badalian, 28, of Panorama City, was convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, and entering and remaining in a restricted building after a trial last month, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release. Badalian is scheduled to be sentenced on July 21.According to prosecutors, Badalian's charges were included in an indictment filed against Fontana resident Daniel Rodriguez, 40, who pleaded guilty to four felonies in February, including the assault of Metropolitan Police Department Officer Michael Fanone. 70-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision in Scottsdale near Shea BoulevardSCOTTSDALE, AZ (April 4, 2023) – Late Wednesday night, a man died following a pedestrian collision on Scottsdale Road.Police responded to the scene around 11:00 p.m., near Shea Boulevard on March 29th.For reasons currently under investigation, the driver of a vehicle struck a 70-year-old man from Minnesota in the area. Upon impact, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.Meanwhile, paramedics transported the man to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties but have since been reopened.Furthermore, police assessed the driver and he showed no signs of impairment.
