During a livestreamed event on Sunday, the Foo Fighters named veteran musician Josh Freese as their new drummer, Variety reported. The announcement comes as the band heads out this week on its first tour since drummer Taylor Hawkins suddenly passed away in Colombia in March of last year. During the livestream event, dubbed Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts, the band played several of their past hits, along with songs from their upcoming 10-track album “But Here We Are,” which is due to be released on June 2. The new album will be “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year,” the band said in a statement last month. The lead, driving single is “Rescued,” with the lyrics “I’m just waiting to be rescued/Bring me back to life/Kings and queens and in-betweens/We all deserve the right.” Freese is no stranger music fans and was even a part of the London and Los Angeles Hawkins tribute concerts th...Cupertino: Fire crews pull submerged vehicle from Stevens Creek reservoir

With Celtics in a 3-0 hole, Joe Mazzulla’s season is now at its low point

MIAMI (AP) — Joe Mazzulla’s roller-coaster season is at its lowest. And with the Boston Celtics now on the brink of elimination, the first-year coach is blaming himself. The Celtics are in the sort of trouble that no team in NBA history has escaped, trailing Miami 3-0 in the Eastern Conference finals after a 128-102 Heat romp on Sunday night that might not have been even as close as the score would make it appear.“I think the most important thing is just sticking together, and then I have to be better,” said Mazzulla, the NBA’s youngest coach at 34. “I’ve got to put them in better positions. I’ve got to get them ready to play. I have to have the game plan ready for us to be physical and to execute, and it’s important that we stick together.”It has been a disaster of a series for the Celtics. They’re letting the Heat shoot 52% from the field, 48% from 3-point range — compared to a 29% effort from deep by the Celtics — and the dam might have broken in Game 3. After Games 1 and 2 ...POLITICO Pro Morning Health Care: Your World Health Assembly guide — Returning to Ukraine for an abortion — Needle-free future?

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A massive fire tore through Manila’s historic post office building overnight, slightly injuring one person and razing the nearly 100-year-old landmark in the Philippine capital, police and postal officials said Monday. The fire started before midnight in the basement of the neoclassical, five-story building and was brought under control Monday morning more than seven hours after it began, firefighters said.An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the fire and what was damaged, officials said. The Manila Central Post Office was one of the capital’s busiest office buildings but was closed when the fire started. The building was the country’s main mail-sorting and distribution hub and was the central office for the Philippine Postal Corporation. DALLAS (AP) — Kyu Cho had a generous spirit and joyous belly laugh that delighted his friends. His wife, Cindy Cho, was quieter, described by those who knew her as sweet and kind. Together, the parents of two young sons complemented each other perfectly, strong in their faith and devoted to family and friends.“That’s what I keep hearing in my head when I think of them: Just Kyu laughing so deeply and Cindy just kind of shaking her head and laughing along,” said their friend, Phyllis Myung. “Every interaction I ever had with them, we were always laughing so hard.”Cindy and Kyu grew up in Texas. They met while pursuing their careers as young adults in Boston — her as a dentist, him as an attorney. Wanting to be near their families, they decided it was time to return to Texas when they started a family of their own. The couple and their sons — 6-year-old William and 3-year-old James — were not far from their Dallas home when a gunman opened fire at an outdoor mall as they s...While many love the dry conditions, sunny skies and warm temps, it's not all good news, especially for farmers and gardeners...
