A group of riders were stuck after a rollercoaster at Knott’s Berry Farm stalled on Friday night.Citizen video captured riders’ feet dangling on the tall lift hill of the Silver Bullet coaster as they ascended toward the first drop.Park crew members responded to the area and were seen climbing toward the trapped guests while they remained strapped into their seats. Silver Bullet is an inverted suspension coaster that opened in 2004 and has since become one of the park’s marquee attractions.Due to the coaster’s many high-thrill elements such as corkscrews, cobra rolls, zero-g rolls and vertical loops, all riders are strapped in with over-the-shoulder restraints. Video captured guests looking on as park workers attended to the coaster train. It's unclear what initially caused the ride to stall. No injuries were reported so far.SF Giants explode for 15 runs in rout of Brewers, own first winning record since last August

MILWAUKEE — The Giants tried and failed once this week to climb over .500. In their second attempt on Friday, they left little doubt.Unloading on Brewers starter Freddy Peralta, the Giants brought 10 men to the plate in the third inning and scored seven of them, providing ample cushion for Alex Wood and San Francisco’s bullpen in a 15-1 rout, their second in a row over the Brewers and their ninth in their past 11 games. With their run of red-hot play, the Giants (26-25) will wake up Saturday morning with a winning record for the first time since Aug. 17 of last season.Their scoring explosion in the third inning eclipsed even what they were able to accomplish playing in the pinball machine that was Estadio Harp Helu in Mexico City last month, scoring their most runs in an inning since last April, a figure they have topped in a full game only three times this season.Leading the charge, Mitch Haniger drove in a season-high four runs, accomplishing something he hasn’t done s...Nordqvist, Knight hit clutch shots to advance in LPGA Match Play

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Anna Nordqvist had all three of her matches go the distance, and only a clutch wedge kept her from playing even more Friday as she was among 16 players who advanced out of group play in the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play.Nordqvist would have faced a three-way playoff if she lost to Andrea Lee. That appeared likely when the Swede hit into the creek in front of the 18th green at Shadow Creek while Lee was on the green some 50 feet from the hole.Nordqvist, the top seed in her group, hit a wedge that caught the back slope and settled 3 feet away and Lee three-putted for bogey to halve the match and send Nordqvist (2-0-1 in group play) into the weekend.“I hit a good wedge in there to tie the match,” Nordqvist said. “I’m very happy to move on.”Cheyenne Knight was just as clutch, minus the water. She came in 2-0 in her group and needed only to halve her match against Sei Young Kim to advance. Otherwise, Knight would have faced a three-way playoff.Kim was 1 ...Kimbrel 8th pitcher in MLB history to earn 400 saves, Phillies beat Braves 6-4

ATLANTA (AP) — Craig Kimbrel became the eighth pitcher in major league history to earn 400 saves, Brandon Marsh hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the sixth inning and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves 6-4 on Friday night.Making his 730th career appearance, the 34-year-old Kimbrel worked a scoreless ninth to get his sixth save in six chances this season. Of the seven previous relievers to reach 400 saves, only Mariano Rivera (697 games), Trevor Hoffman (706) and Kenley Jansen (778) hit the threshold in under 800 appearances. Kimbrel, the 2011 NL Rookie of the Year, played his first five seasons in Atlanta, was a four-time All-Star with the Braves and still holds the franchise record with 186 saves. This is his first season with Philadelphia. Over his last 14 games since April 16, Kimbrel has faced 50 batters and has 26 strikeouts in 13 innings, but the hard-throwing right-hander began the game with a 6.00 ERA.Facing reliever Joe Jiménez (0-1) with the bases loaded in ...Judge: School district can bar student from wearing Mexican and American flag sash at graduation

DENVER (AP) — A federal judge ruled Friday that a rural Colorado school district can bar a high school student from wearing a Mexican and American flag sash at her graduation this weekend after the student sued the school district.Judge Nina Y. Wang wrote that wearing a sash during a graduation ceremony falls under school-sponsored speech, not the student’s private speech. Therefor, “the School District is permitted to restrict that speech as it sees fit in the interest of the kind of graduation it would like to hold,” Wang wrote. The ruling was over the student’s request for a temporary restraining order, which would have allowed her to wear the sash on Saturday for graduation because the case wouldn’t have resolved in time. Wang found that the student and her attorneys failed to sufficiently show they were likely to succeed, but a final ruling is still to come. It’s the latest dispute in the U.S. about what kind of cultural graduation attire is allowed at co...White Sox sluggers Vaughn, Moncada rough up Tigers early and often in 12-3 rout

DETROIT (AP) — Andrew Vaughn hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs, Yoan Moncada also had three RBIs and the Chicago White Sox routed the Detroit Tigers 12-3 on Friday night.“We put great at-bats together one through nine,” Vaughn said.Lance Lynn (4-5) allowed three runs — one earned — on three hits and five walks while striking out five in six innings. The White Sox started strong with Vaughn’s RBI double and Yasmani Grandal’s two-run single in the inning.Lynn walked the leadoff batter, then gave up a double and allowed Akil Baddoo to hit an RBI single to load the bases before getting out the jam by striking out Miguel Cabrera.“It was a frustrating evening when you get three runs in the first and you load up the bases,” Lynn said. “The offense scored a bunch of runs for me and played good defense. I’ve got to be a little bit more efficient and not walk so many people, but they bailed me out with so I was able to get through six.”Joey Wentz (1-5) gave up five runs on six ...Criswell gets 1st win, Rays beat Dodgers 9-3 in matchup of division leaders

All around good game for us.”In all, eight Rays pitchers gave up nine hits and six walks and limited Los Angeles to 3-for-14 hitting with runners in scoring position.“They did a nice job … They needed to,” Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash said. “They kept putting guys on base. It felt like when we needed a big pitch made, it seemed to happen for us pr...Corey Seager hits grand slam in 8-run 4th, Rangers beat Orioles 12-2

BALTIMORE (AP) — Corey Seager hit his third career grand slam to highlight an eight-run fourth inning in the surging Texas Rangers’ 12-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night. The Rangers came in averaging a major league-best 6.33 runs, and they showed why during a wild fourth inning that featured a two-run homer by Robbie Grossman, two hits apiece by Josh Jung and Josh Smith, and Seager’s bases-loaded shot to deep center. “I tell ya, I’ve seen some good innings but that was really impressive,” manager Bruce Bochty said. “We did a lot of good things to keep things moving, and Corey got a pitch he could handle. That was the big blow.”The outburst made it easy for Jon Gray (5-1) to win his career-best fourth consecutive start.“The whole feel for the game changed after that,” Gray said. “It really flipped a switch, and momentum was on our side after that.”The right-hander gave up one run and four hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one....Delle Donne hits late go-ahead 3-pointer, Mystics beat Sky 71-69
