(KRON) -- The San Jose Fire Chief is still not naming names for who was involved in an embarrassing strip club scandal. Instead, Fire Chief Robert Sapien wrote an apology to the mayor and City Council pledging to "reinforce standards of conduct." The scandal began in October when video surfaced on San Jose Foos' Instagram page showing a San Jose Fire Department truck with its lights activated outside the Pink Poodle strip club. The video recorded a young woman wearing only a bikini and high-heels step out of the fire truck and walk into the club. San Jose Foos' captioned the video, "Only in San Jose do you see a stripper come out of a firetruck."The city launched an investigation into what happened on the night of October 5, 2022, and to find who was operating Engine-4. The investigation concluded in February. NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. cases of a dangerous fungus tripled over just three years, and more than half of states have now reported it, according to a new study. The COVID-19 pandemic likely drove part of the increase, researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wrote in the paper published Monday by Annals of Internal Medicine. Hospital workers were strained by coronavirus patients, and that likely shifted their focus away from disinfecting some other kinds of germs, they said. The fungus, Candida auris, is a form of yeast that is usually not harmful to healthy people but can be a deadly risk to fragile hospital and nursing home patients. It spreads easily and can infect wounds, ears and the bloodstream. Some strains are so-called superbugs that are resistant to all three classes of antibiotic drugs used to treat fungal infections. It was first identified in Japan in 2009 and has been seen in more and more countries. The first U.S. case occurred in 2013, but it was not re...TuesDAY DIVIDENDS DECLARED ,

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A woman charged with conspiracy and murder in connection with the deaths of her two children and her new husband’s late wife will no longer face the death penalty, a judge ruled Tuesday. Lori Vallow Daybell is scheduled to stand trial starting April 3. Both she and Chad Daybell — her newest husband — have pleaded not guilty to murder, conspiracy and grand theft charges in connection with the deaths of Vallow Daybell’s children — 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, and Tylee Ryan, who was last seen a few days before her 17th birthday. They are also charged in connection with the October 2019 death of Chad Daybell’s late wife, Tammy Daybell. Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty for both defendants, but Vallow Daybell’s attorneys said it should be taken off the table in her case because they will not have time to fully review a large amount of evidence that was turned over in recent weeks. During a Tuesday morning hearing, 7th District Judge Steven Boyc...Doctors question aspects of Missouri transgender care limits

Missouri’s attorney general has said he will issue an emergency regulation that at least temporarily puts strict limits on transgender medical treatment for youth. The planned rule comes as legislators in that state and many others seek bans or other restrictions on the treatment.Doctors and advocates for the transgender community contend the planned rule contains misleading or incorrect information straight from the playbook of anti-trans activists. Here’s a look at what the rule does and what’s behind some of its assertions.WHAT DOES THE MISSOURI EMERGENCY RULE DO?Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s rule will target treatment for gender-questioning children, which typically begins with puberty-blocking drugs to temporarily pause sexual development. They are offered early in puberty, sometimes before the age of 10. Sex hormones — estrogen or testosterone — are offered next, generally in the teen years, allowing transgender boys and girls to physically transition. Some...21Vianet: Q4 Earnings Snapshot
